Hi, we are Brian and Teresa and we absolutely love to travel and experience all of the amazing things this wide world has to offer. We have visited 47 countries and 6 continents (Antartica, we are coming for you soon!), and even though we are now in our mid-fifties, which supposedly makes us “old,” we are more excited than ever to go more, do more, and see more. After all, tomorrow is not promised and if we don’t plan it and do it now, it may never happen. It definitely won’t happen on its own. We have to dive in and make it happen.

Between us, we have 9 children and over 20 grandchildren, so we definitely love family time and have a full calendar with work and family time. But, we also recognize that we need to make time for ourselves and the things that bring us joy, which for us puts travel at the top of the list right after all of our cute grandkids and kids.

Teresa and I got married 10 years ago, and we made the commitment early on to always date each other and to go and see the world together. We have kept that commitment and we are still going strong with so much left to see and do. I think most of us would say that international travel is something that sounds amazing and we want to do, but where do we start? There is so much to think about and plan and prepare and save up and book that it can seem overwhelming and we end up thinking “maybe someday” when we have more time or more money, or less on our plate at home Here’s a little secret though: “someday” never comes on its own. We have to make it happen. And once we do and we experience an epic trip, we are hooked.

If you, like us, are in your 50s or later, you may feel that it is either too late for some adventures or that it’s too early because you have so many obligations at home. As we travel and see people much older than us struggling to make it through airports or to climb stairs or walk the beautiful city streets in Europe, or navigate cool places that take some work to do, I am filled with a combination of admiration for them for going out there and just doing it as well as some worry that they are not having the best time because it is so hard on them just to get around. Is youth wasted on the young? Probably, but that ship has sailed, and here we are in our 50s with decisions to make about whether we go for it or put it off for “another day.” Spoiler alert: that “another day” may never come, or come so late that it is not possible or enjoyable to experience the world through our own eyes.

So, let’s go and do this together. Can it be a lot of work and a daunting thing to plan an international trip? It sure can. We hope that you will come along with us on our travels and that you get inspired to do more of it yourself. We will share tips, tricks, shortcuts, planning strategies, and a whole lot more as we go along with you.

So, as Teresa is very fond of saying: “The Time Is Now!” Let’s do this together. We are very excited to go on this midlife journey with you. Share with us the amazing places you have been and your stories about how you made it happen and booked the bucket list trip and did it!
